Our 100th day celebration was filled with fun as we focused on the number 100! Kindergartners made creative drawings with the number 100. Using a ten frame, they made ten groups of ten beads to string on their necklaces! We also had fun doing a 100 exercise fitness challenge. It was a fun filled day for all. Special thanks to our parents that helped on this fun day. In math we will continue building on our number knowledge to 100.
If you stop by our school be sure to check out our observational drawings and writing about evergreens in the hallway. They are fabulous!
With Valentine's Day right around the corner, we will continue to focus on our core ethical values and spread kindness as we celebrate our friendships. Throughout the month we will enjoy reading stories of friendship with many popular characters such as George and Martha, Arthur, Henry and Mudge, Piggie and Elephant, Frog and Toad, Poppleton and many more! We are looking forward to exchanging valentines with our classmates too. We will even have fun with a little play about Valentine's Day. We will explore reading a script!
Kindergartners love word study time. We are focusing on short vowel word families and strengthening our sight words. We have fun with playdough or rolling the dice to create CVC words in word study stations. Writing our words in sand, playing sight word board games or using the computer game Fridge Magnets are all great ways we review our sight words. Help you kindergartner practice these bonus sight words at home too:
here, went, get, little, put, this, was, what, by, some
We have learned all of our capital letters and now we are moving onto our lowercase letters with Miss Carla. We love the wet, dry,try method of forming the lowercase letters on the mini chalkboards! Remember to remind your little one to start their letters at the top!
